Interesting News for the Honda Lovers, Honda Motor Corporation plans to relaunch its 20-year-old iconic sports car as EV. Recent reports suggest that Prelude is expected to be reborn. It’s been over two decades since the Honda Prelude was retired. Before it was discontinued in 2001, the two-door sports coupe was among the most exciting cars offered by the brand. It added that the Prelude’s successor could be an electric vehicle (EV) as Honda plans to launch a sporty EV in 2028.
Honda Plans to Relaunch Iconic Sports Car as EV:
As per Japan’s Best Car Web report, Honda teased the two electric sports vehicles as the successors of the Prelude and NSX. Honda said that one of the sports EVs will be a special model and the other will be a flagship model. Jon Ikeda, the vice president, and brand officer of Acura confirmed that the NSX will return as an EV. It added that both EVs will be available worldwide.
Honda Sony Joint Venture:
As we told you, Honda has partnered with Sony to form an EV development venture. The joint venture will produce and sell the Premier EV to compete with Tesla’s offerings. According to the joint venture, the company will start accepting pre-orders for its first product before the end of 2025, with first customer deliveries starting in 2026 in the US, and in Japan in the second half of 2026. The new venture lineup includes a crossover and a sedan. Sony said that both EVs will have two electric motors, each producing 536 horsepower to drive all four wheels. However, the company did not reveal more information regarding the battery pack, electric range, features, and price of the vehicle.
