This was revealed by Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon after inspecting the construction of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service corridor.
Electric Taxi Service in Karachi:
Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon claimed that the Sindh government is steadfastly working to establish a new, comfortable, environmentally friendly taxi service in Karachi. People will soon be able to use this facility. He added that existing ride-hailing services have increased their fares significantly. This has increased the importance of introducing a new, more affordable taxi service. The transport minister told the media that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership asked the Sindh government to quickly finish transportation-related projects in the city to best facilitate Karachi citizens.
Test Drives of all-new Battery-Powered Passenger Buses:
Karachi’s Department of Transportation began test drives of its all-new battery-powered passenger buses earlier this month. Trial runs were conducted by the department between Sea View and Sindh Archives Complex. Memon and other concerned officials participated in test runs and inspected the newly imported electric buses.
He said that the public transport sector of Sindh confronts serious difficulties. He added that the government is working by spending billions of rupees to address them by providing modern and comfortable travel options to the citizens.
